Established by Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Science Park combines its unique technical and human resources with innovative companies and ambitious young entrepreneurs. Tsinghua Science Park offers excellent services to high tech and Research and Development companies, becoming the home to both domestic and foreign start-up businesses.
Beginning with an existing Tsinghua Science Park development center, Tsinghua University began construction on the Science Park in 1994 with the intention of making it the most innovative science park in China.
The majority of construction was completed in 1998, and Tsinghua Science Park became one of the leading business projects in Zhongguancun, an area where Beijing’s top universities, colleges, and research institutions are located. International companies interested in benefiting from China’s new “Policy of Innovation” are attracted to this innovative and creative environment. Conveniently, Tsinghua Science Park has direct access to the 3rd and 4th Ring roads, subway system (Xizhimen), and numerous bus routes.
Tsinghua Innovation Park, a satellite park of Tsinghua Science Park, opened in 1999. In 2000, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology acknowledged Tsinghua Science Park as the one of the first national university science parks in China. Tsinghua Science Park’s outstanding reputation for excellent incubation services for high tech companies extends to both national and international communities.
In 2002, Tsinghua Science Park was named a “National High-Tech Innovation Service Centre”, guaranteeing long-term growth and development for the park. In the same year, the “Tsinghua Innovation Park Bio Tech Incubators Centre” was launched in order to broaden the scope of industries represented at Tsinghua Science Park.
Tsinghua Science Park was awarded “The Best Practice of Science Incubator 2002” by the Netherlands Science Federation for its sustainable and pioneering business concept, attesting to Tsinghua Science Park’s international success and recognition. In 2003, Tsinghua Science Park became the first Chinese science park member of the International Science and Technology Association.
In 2004, the Tsinghua Science Park celebrated its 10th anniversary, finally becoming a fully equipped and completed campus. Although total completion of the park was finished more recently in 2005, Tsinghua Science Park is continuously evaluating and improving the quality and range of services available to tenants. Further construction plans were released to meet the increasing demand for Tsinghua Science Park’s excellent business environment.
